How the studio works
Sessions use guided demonstrations, hands-on practice, human review, and accessible tools. Depending on the group, tools may include browser AI assistants, VS Code, GitHub, Replit, CodePen, and other free or low-cost options.
Responsible AI habits
Participants learn to protect private information, check AI output, avoid blind copying, document AI assistance, and use AI as a support tool rather than a replacement for judgment.

Is this only for East African students?
No. The academy is open to students who need Grade 10-12 Alberta curriculum support. It is intentionally culturally responsive to East African and newcomer families.
Is this online or in person?
Both. The core model combines Wednesday and Saturday in-person sessions with online Apparium practice between sessions.
Can students take more than one course?
Yes. Registration supports multiple courses. Multi-course discounts can be offered during the pilot.
How are students placed?
Students complete diagnostics and share current course needs, marks, school, goals, and schedule constraints.
Do parents receive progress updates?
Yes. Apparium tracks assignments and progress; parent-facing portal features are planned, with manual updates available during the pilot.
What language support is available?
Parent communication preferences include English, Amharic, and Tigrigna.
